Whilst I agree that the majority of drugs that you mention can be dangerous. I have to disagree when it comes to Cannabis or Marijuana.

Cannabis is naturally occurring and grows wild in many parts of the world. Its dried leaves or resin have been smoked by varied cultures over many thousands of years. Historically cannabis has been used by all kinds of societies ranging from the Hindus of India, the Thracians of southern Europe and the ancient Scythians. The charred seeds of cannabis have also been found at a Stone Age burial site in Romania, and cannabis was first documented as a herbal remedy in a Chinese pharmacy text of the first century AD.

It has been proven that Cannabis does not produce physical dependency as does heroin and other drugs. There is also no conclusive evidence to state that cannabis causes a serious, long-term problem for a person's mental health and there are no recorded cases of anyone dying from the result of a cannabis overdose.

On the contrary cannabis has been shown to have lots of medical benefits and therapeutic value for illnesses such as asthma, glaucoma, mild to severe muscle spasms and pain, as well as anorexia and mood disorders. It has even been found to destroy cancer cells.

During the 30's the government and the media began spreading outrageous lies about marijuana and as a result it eventually led to its prohibition. Since then however Pharmaceutical companies have been allowed to harvest marijuana crops and manufacture pure synthetic THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol - the main psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant) to treat all kinds of ailments. This is very hypocritical since it was originally THC that they touted as an evil drug.

The real truth is that politicians do not want to be seen as "soft on drugs". However they hypocritically seem to turn a blind eye to the more harmful and legal drugs such as nicotine and alcohol. That and the fact that the Pharmaceutical companies make billions of pounds in revenue from Cannabis every year.

I personally do not use cannabis but that doesn't mean that I do not appreciate the wonder of this super little plant.
